Week 1 Games

Steelers 25 Seahawks 0: Ben Pavich threw for 3 touchdowns and James Allen caught a touchdown and ran for a one and the defense bent but did not break for a 25-0 shutout.  Mitch Froelich and Bryan Magill also caught a touchdown and Nicholas Kearney scored the Steelers lone PAT. The Steelers defense was led by Saaketh Anjutgi who's interception stopped a Seahawk drive. The Steelers also had many key defensive flag grabs by Michael Davidson, Andrew Gillespie and Chris Manoff.  The Seahwawks offense, at times, was able to move the football but was unable to penetrate the endzone.

Eagles v. Browns: On a beautiful opening day of the season, both teams were excited with the anticipation of getting the season off to a great start.  The two teams engaged in a defensive struggle.  The Browns struck first, making an early interception.  And they scored first, scoring a touchdown in the first half, but they did not convert the extra point.  The Eagles held their ground with tough defensive stands the rest of the day using great coverage and a ferocious pass rush and included an interception.  Offensively the Eagles were moving the ball, but just not getting far enough.  With a fast passing game, the Eagles scored in the the second half, scoring a TD on a tipped ball.  They lined up quick and made their game winning extra point.  Yesterday’s game was full of great sportsmanship and great effort on both sides of the ball, and reaffirmed the goodness and spirit of life in the wake of the Virginia Tech tragedy.

Seahawks Ball

With little time left on the clock, a weaving, darting run by TJ sealed the game, earning a first down.

Browns vs. Redskins. The Browns offense came to life today, opening up the scoring with a phenomenal touchdown pass from Jon Ludwig to a sprinting Spencer Selby to make the score 6-0.  The extra point attempt failed, and the tenacious defense, led by Frank Boudreaux broke up pass plays, and swarmed the receivers.  But the Redskins had a long strike, and as their receiver sprinted toward the end zone, Xavier Nickens-Yzer sped down the field to catch him at the three yard line.  Eric Martin stopped the Redskins offense with a sensational interception in the end zone, and the offense returned to the field.  Josh Wasserman caught two terrific passes, setting the Browns in great field position, but the Redskins defense stiffened, and the Browns were unable to penetrate as the first half ended.  The second score, a long strike by Quarterback Danny Lichter, was bobbled and then caught by Jonathan Morse as he streaked down the field for a touchdown.  The two point conversion was no good.  Then the defense took over, with Owen Martin sacking the quarterback in the end zone for a safety, making the score 14-0.  The next series started with a catch and a half field sprint by Connor Day.  The catch by Connor gave the Browns a first down, and shortly thereafter, Xavier fielded another pass from Danny, and weaved his way past defenders into the end zone.  Matt Rubio had a terrific pass deflection on a Redskin third down, thus maintaining the defensive shutout as time expired, with a final score of 20-0.

Bengals 12 - Steelers 0. The game between the Jr Pro Bengals and Steelers was a physical game characterized by tough defense and good sportsmanship. The Bengals offense was successful in moving the ball and scoring two touchdowns, the first a pass from Connor Vincent to Bryce Millar and the second a slashing run by Josh Lacny. The Steelers defense held back both extra point attempts. A strong pass rush by the Bengals' Emma Washenko and Josh Lacny and tight coverage by Nick Drake, Brady McCullion, Dane Boegner, Connor Hill, Bryce Millar, and Connor Vincent kept the Steelers passing attack, which was close to connecting on a number of big plays, out of the endzone.

Bengals vs. Seahawks: Bengals 38 vs. Seahawks 6.  The Bengals offense and defensive gave it all in a hard fought game with the Seahawks.  The defense exhibited a number of great plays including a sack and a diving interception by Bryce Millar, a touchdown saving flag pull by Connor Hill, and a fingertip interception by Dane Boegner.  Other great defensive pursuit and flag pulling came from all including Emma Washenko, Brady McCullion, and Brandon Middleton who kept the Seahawks out of the endzone a number of times.  Offensive highlights included touchdown throws to Josh Lacny and Nick Drake from Connor Vincent and a running touchdown, receiving touchdown and PAT by Dane Boegner.  I regret that Connor Hill's PAT was nulified by a coaching penalty.   Brady and Nick were "go to" receivers for clutch plays and great running with significant yardage was provided by Josh, Dane, Emma, Brandon, and Connor H.  Alt hough not evident from the score, the Seahawks competed closely, but were short on breaks and missed the endzone a number of times.

Eagles vs. Redskins. The Eagles and the Redskins gave it their all this weekend in an incredible game. After two exchanges and two turnovers, one for each team, the Eagles made it into the end zone on the first down, a hand off and a full field run by Anthony. After a few more fine plays by QB Jarrett and offensmen Matteo and Brennan on catches and runs, both the Eagles and the Redskins did not score in the remaining minutes of the first half.

The Redskins started off the scoring in the second half on a running play. The extra point conversion was read and intercepted by Eagles defenseman Jack. The Eagles answered right back with a gain from a pass from QB, T to Chip and a long pass to Alex who made a nice catch and took it in the end zone to put the Eagles ahead. The Eagles D was in fine form on the Redskins first down, resulting in an interception. The Eagles offense took the field and on a running play, Anthony made it into the end zone. Not to be outdone, the Redskins made a touchdown on a running play.

Both teams played excellent offense and defense. They displayed great sportsmanship as well. Final score Eagles 18 - Redskins 13

Week 6 Games

Browns vs. Seahawks. The Browns' offense came to life today, with two early touchdowns off of long runs by Xavier Yzer.  Additionally, Josh Wasserman scored a long strike, and also a bullet extra point thrown by Jon Ludwig.  Jordan Boudreaux caught a critical third down pass, keeping the scoring drive alive.  As usual, the defense stiffened when needed, providing the Seahawks little opportunity to advance the ball.  Owen Martin lead the defense with a critical sack, and repeatedly rushing the Seahawk's quarterbacks's throws.  In the end, it was a hard fought battle, but the Browns persisted with a 19-12 final score.

Raiders - 35 vs. Redskins- 0. Yesterday's game was the Raider's highest scoring game of the year. The team displayed their full offensive arsenal by scoring a season high 5 touchdowns and 3 successful extra point attempts. All of the players made contributions to this big win. Matt G and Aaron, each had two TD's while

Owen had one TD. Our defense completely shut down the Redskins offense holding them to only two first downs and no point. The team really stepped up the flag pulling during this game and allowed the fewest yards of any game this season. Mikey, Paul, Quinton, Owen and Aaron and Matt G. lead the team in flag pulls with three for each of them. Jimmy, Matt E, and Patrick had one flag pull a piece. Zack played solid defense in several different positions during the game.

Joey D had an outstanding pass reception which required him to lay out while coming back for the pass. This enabled the team to gain a first down and go for their second TD which he threw. Aaron had 2 TDs and 2 interceptions.

He also had two pass receptions that were over 20 yards a piece Owen had 1 TD, 2 big pass receptions and 1 interception.. Patrick made key contributions to both the offense and defense during this game. There were a lot substitutions made during the game as this was the first game played under more seasonal weather conditions.
