Steelers (36) vs. Chiefs (12): It was another scorching hot day in Ashburn but the Steelers played it “cool” as always.  On the opening drive the Chiefs quarterback handed off the ball resulting in their first touchdown.  The Chiefs attempted to score the extra point but the Steelers defense stopped them just short of the goal line.  On the Steelers first offensive series the quarterback, Bronson Hyatt, handed off to Daniel Hardy for a touch down but the Chiefs defense was able to stop the extra points.  The Steelers defense including Jake Blanco, Quentin Fisher, Luke Hughes, Justin Mann and Daniel Hardy then took to the field and shut down the Chiefs second offensive series.  Their dynamic defense did so by stopping the run with 3 consecutive flag pulls.  On their first down, the Steelers offense kept the momentum going by Bronson handing off to Quentin for a 60 yd run for a touchdown.  Bronson completed a pass to TJ Hughes for a 4 yard gain but the Chiefs defense prevented the extra points for the Steelers.  The Chiefs started off their third drive with a delay of game and once again the Steelers defense stopped their run with two consecutive flag pulls by Daniel and Quentin causing them to turn over the ball on third down.  In the Steelers next offensive drive Bronson completed a pass to Jake for a 20 yard gain.  After the Chiefs almost intercepting the ball the Steelers quarterback hands off to Quentin for another touchdown with Daniel making an amazing catch for the extra points.  On defense Conner Hutton stops the run on the first and second down but the Chiefs completed a long pass on the third down which set them up for a short run into the end zone.  Quentin prevented the extra point by almost intercepting the ball, making the score 20-12 (Steelers) at the half.

The Steelers offense started the second half with a hand off to Daniel for a long run down the field to the 10 yard line.   After two attempted passes the ball was handed off to Daniel again for a touchdown followed by a completed pass by Bronson to Quentin for the extra points.  Paul Vey, Justin, Quentin, Conner and Jake ended the Chiefs first series after the half quickly by putting pressure on the offense and making three consecutive flag pulls.  Even with the Steelers offense not having much time to rest they came back on the field with a quick hand off to Daniel for a touchdown and a pass to Jake for the extra 2 points.  With the score 36-12 the mercy rule was imposed and the Steelers pulled out their second victory.  Please stay tuned sports fans…the Steelers are definitely a force to be reckoned with!

Week 3 Games

Panthers: The tough defense and flag pulling of Kirk Kalian, Isaiah Watson, and Christian DeVault powered the Panthers to a 20-6 victory.  On the offensive side of the ball, Kalvin Bustamante, Kalian Truong and Kyle Jenkins proved tough to contain as they each scampered for long touchdown runs.  Hunter Hair contributed the only extra point of the day with a dazzling whirling twirling run for score.

Week 1 Games

Panthers (10) vs. Broncos (0): Kyle Jenkins hooked up with Bobby Wilden for a touchdown and Hunter Hair and Christian Devault both caused safeties as the Panthers won their opening day game 10-0 over the Broncos.

Cardinals (20) vs. Colts (8): Both the Cardinals and the Colts came to play on opening day in Loudoun, VA.  The Colts took their opening drive across mid-field on strong passing from their QB only to be held out of the end zone by strong Cardinal defense.  Eight year old Michael M. and Anthony C. had all 5 flag pulls to thwart the drive.   Walter M. helped the Cardinals cross midfield on their first possession with a highlight film catch and run.   However, the Colts forced the Cardinals to turn it over on downs.  The Colts were threatening on their next possession only to be stopped by Reid H. who intercepted a pass to give the Cardinals good field position.  With the ball in the “no run zone”, Liam W. hauled in a pass from Reid H., eluded then outran the entire Colt team to reach the end zone to put the Cardinals up 6 – 0.  The Cardinals kept the Colts out of the end zone for the rest of the first half with strong defense by Billy P. and Giovanni G. who stepped in front of another Colt pass to register the Cardinals second interception.  The Colts threatened to score before the first half ended only to be stopped when Anthony C. almost intercepted the Colts for the third time.

The Colts began the second half with second and goal only to be held out of the end zone by a stingy Cardinal defense.  When the Cardinals finally took possession, Sean M., another Cardinal 8 year old took an end around and outraced everyone to the end zone to put the Cardinals up 12 – 0.   On the Colts next possession, the Cardinals forced a safety to take a 14 – 0 lead.  Jared G. then took a dive right up the middle on the first play from scrimmage after the safety, juked one Colt and outraced the rest of the defense for a 45 yard TD giving the Cardinals a 20 – 0 lead.  The Colts weren’t done yet.  On a broken play created by an official’s flag, all players stopped momentarily until they realized a whistle had not sounded.  When the Colt running back began running again he was off to the races only to be run down from behind by James G. and stopped just shy of the end zone.  However, nothing was keeping the Colts from their first touchdown.  After a two point conversion, the score was 20 – 8.  The Colts final possession was stopped once again with an interception.  This time, Darick E. stepped in front of the Colts receiver and the game soon ended.

Cardinals (22) vs. Saints (0): The Cardinals and Saints squared off in a hard fought football game this Saturday in Leesburg, VA.  The Saints won the toss but were stopped in their tracks on their first possession.  Giovanni set the tempo for the Cardinals with an excellent flag pull on the first play from scrimmage.  On the Cardinals second play from scrimmage, Sean took an end around to the house only to have it called back because his flag fell out.  The Cardinals turned the ball over on downs.  On the Saints next possession, Michael led the Cardinals with a quarterback hurry and the first of his two flag pulls.  The Saints again turned the ball over on downs.  The Cardinals gave the ball to Liam on a simple dive and the speedster took off never to be touched only to have the play called back for a false start on offense.  No problem, on the very next play, Liam to the right yielded the same result less the penalty and just like that the score was 8-0 Cardinals.  Before the half, Walter took a handoff and rumbled 10 yards downfield before being stopped.  On the next play, James wiggled his way across midfield with another 10 yard run and stopped, thinking his flag had been pulled.

In the second half, Jared pitched a pass to Darick who made some nifty moves to reach the end zone and put the Cardinals on top 14-0.  On the conversion, Jared threw back across the field to Anthony who made a nice catch and waltzed into the end zone for a 16-0 Cardinal lead.  On the next three Saints possessions, the Cardinals pass defense was phenomenal.  Reid had two interceptions and Anthony had one giving the Cardinals great field position throughout the half.  Liam picked up another Cardinals touchdown on a nice run.  With a comfortable lead, the Cardinals kept the ball on the ground and benefitted with some nifty running from Billy and Giovanni who picked up 15 yards on the last three carries of the game and were stopped just short of the Saints end zone.  Final Score, Cardinals 22 Saints 0.

Week 4 Games

Steelers (37) vs. Redskins (6): Mikey Kovich threw touchdown passes to Noel Hijazi, Nick Kearney, Steve Winston and Theo Tidmore as Bulldog Davidson ran for one as the Steelers defeated the Redskins 37 to 6. The Redskins kept it close in the 1st half with a long touchdown run. The Steelers defense played again like their NFL namesakes by only giving up one score and only one 1st down.

The Steelers have now won 3 in a row as they head into the bye week and have outscored their opponents 92 to 12 in doing so.
